EOA Special General Meeting

Dear EOA Community,

Following up from our Whole of Community meeting on Thursday, 11 April 2019, Sylvia Michael, EOA Deputy-Chair, informed participants at this meeting of the intention for EOA to incorporate as a Queensland Association and to register as an Australian body with ASIC. EOA will convene at a special general meeting on Thursday, 23 May 2019 at 12:00pm AEST Brisbane (see meeting connectivity instructions below), to propose these resolutions.

Earth Observation Australia is currently an unincorporated, informal structure with a membership of 460 from across research, industry, non-government, and government sectors. Formalising the structure of EOA will enable us to implement our business objectives:

  • To establish Earth Observation Australia as an incorporated association that is capable of implementing priorities as outlined in the Australian Earth Observation Community Plan 2026 and directly support the Australian Space Agency’s civil space priority on Earth Observation. The structure will enable EOA to operate nationally and to address legal and statutory requirements including a code of conduct for members.

  • To establish sustainable revenue streams to fund our services and operations and meet our budgeted operational activities.

  • To ensure Earth Observation Australia is housed and staffed sufficiently to support its operations.

  • To raise the profile and awareness of Earth Observation Australia.

  • To articulate the benefits of membership to prospective members and to increase our membership base to better reflect interest in EO.

  • To ensure Earth Observation Australia is engaged by relevant agencies to coordinate specific national EO projects, events and activities across sectors, or state/commonwealth boundaries.

  • To continue delivering our values and benefits in a timely and professional manner.

You are invited to attend this special meeting and to vote on the proposed resolutions (see meeting connectivity instructions below). If you are unable to attend the meeting you can still vote via email admin@eoa.org.au and include one of the following statements:

  • I support the motion for EOA to incorporate as a Queensland Association and register as an Australian body.

  • I do not support the motion for EOA to incorporate as a Queensland Association and to register as an Australian body.

Email vote submissions will close at the commencement of the meeting on Thursday, 23 May 2019 at 12:00pm AEST Brisbane.

If you have any questions or concerns you are encouraged to to get in touch at admin@eoa.org.au.
