Challenges, Competitions, and Grants

On this page you will find any challenges, incentive or general competitions, hackathons, etc. or award nominations that relate to Earth observation.

Mostly the challenges will be Australian, however from time to time we will also post international challenges that may be of interest.

Our intention is to be as inclusive as possible and source any EO challenges, competitions, and award nominations as they are released, however we know that we may miss notices of these on occasion and would welcome any entries that you deem suitable. Space for Planet Earth Challenge 2023

The 2023 Space for Planet Earth Challenge opened on 18 May 2023.

The goal of the Challenge is to use space technologies to find new and innovative solutions to address climate change issues in New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.

Apply and you could win up to NZ$25,000 in cash and mentorship support to further your research. The Challenge is open to individuals and teams living in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands (including the Philippines).
