Earth Observation for Government Network
The Earth Observation for Government Network (EOGN) is a targeted collaboration and priority setting network. It connects users of earth observation data and its derived products to researchers and government developers/providers. Its aim is to ensure that the products and services developed are fit-for-purpose and relevant. This is achieved by building a shared understanding of users’ policy drivers, reporting requirements and information needs for management and decision making as well as an awareness of barriers to access and how these may be overcome. Also critical is support for earth observation research and the development of operational products.
EOGN is run through an advisory group which comprises representatives from Commonwealth and state government, research and the private sector.
EOGN’s activities directly support EOA Inc’s. priorities for:
Connection and Coordination (to ensure effective collaboration, resource use and advocacy)
Infrastructure and People (especially supporting and sustaining innovation and application development)
Access to EO data and services (ensuring users can access the data and services they need)
Generating Value (through strengthening end-user engagement to enable delivery of high quality EO applications).
EOGN is coordinated by EOA Inc. and funded by Geoscience Australia. EOA established the network, administer the project and provide expert advice, support communications and secretariat services.
