Queensland Government: Principal Scientist (remote sensing)

The Queensland Department of Environment and Science has advertised a permanent position (classification PO5) in its Land Surface Sciences, Science Delivery & Knowledge area, located at Dutton Park.

The purpose of the role is to provide leadership, scientific & technical direction to a team of remote sensing scientists who assess, map and monitor Queensland’s landscapes. You will lead scientific research, development and operational programs (e.g. ground cover, crop and fire monitoring) that inform and support reef catchment water quality, drought and climate adaptation, best management grazing practice and other Queensland Government policies and land management programs. You will have a high level of skills and knowledge and demonstrated ability to lead projects and programs that acquire, analyse and integrate remotely sensed data, digital spatial data and quantitative field data, for operational and public good outcomes.
